University Grants program

5% of all issued tokens will be allocated to university research programs. The grants will be provided in KAAS, and at least 50% of the grant must be spent as KAAS in the network, as run-time fees for the AI-related programs ran by the researchers. The grants program will follow the following rules:

  • All applications are to be submitted in English, 100% online
  • Geographically and culturally distributed around the world
  • Educational institutions (both public and private, & individual members on their own) and education-related companies can apply
  • The curriculum of the applying entity must have a high percentage of time allocated to AI and/or blockchain coursework, with significant emphasis on practical activities
  • Grant applications must display an equilibrium between educator salaries, software and hardware acquisitions, public conference and summer/winter schools organizing, while optimizing for extended reach (i.e. via remote/online teaching solutions) and job-market relevancy of the proposed coursework
  • Please note that any conference organized using grant funds must be a hybrid between the classic academic conference, an industry conference and a collection of practical workshops and/or hackathons, with either both on-site and live online participation, or only online
  • Grant awarding or rejection will be left at the final decision of the core team, after the community has enough time to vote on the quality and relevance of each application. Any “veto” rejection will be properly motivated and documented.
